Between 1979 and 1984, representatives of the LWF and the World Methodist Council met five times to draft the statement The Church, Community of Grace. Since then, Lutherans and Methodists have entered into a number of regional full communion agreements, in Germany, Norway, Sweden, and the United States. Many Methodist churches have joined the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe, which began as a Lutheran-Reformed fellowship initiative. The WMC also opted to associate itself with the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification, drafted and signed by Lutherans and Catholics in 1999, during its full assembly in South Korea in 2006.
